Both girls woke up early, so we left the guesthouse early, figuring we were all up, we might as well be walking. We were on the road by 6:30 a.m.
We found our motivation and excitement for the Camino waning today. Santiago is so close, but still so far. We are a bit burned out, and all of the familiar faces we’d been seeing are now emailing us to say they’ve reached Santiago.
The walk itself was not too difficult, and we enjoyed the easier trail. I had been so worried about the hills between Sarria and Santiago, but so far this stretch has been fine. Plenty of hills, yes, but terrain the stroller can handle with ease.
As we walked into Arzua, we found a gas station and went to look for an air pump. We last filled our stroller tires on day 1, and we have been actively looking for a pressure pump for about 300 kilometers. Every gas station we’d come across either had no air pump, or the pump was broken. Finally we filled our tires and we realized just how flat they’d been. The stroller moves with so much more ease now! It is depressing to think about how much more difficult this has been because of tire pressure.
We are staying at a brand new guesthouse at the start of Arzua. The owner, Luis, was very welcoming, and we took photos with him in front of the sign for the place.
Right outside is the way marker with 39.5 kilometers written on it. We are watching the numbers count down.
3 days to go. Right now, Santiago can’t come soon enough.
Glad you got those tires pumped up! You are so close now. The kids looks like they have always lived on the Camino and belong there now. Sorry the you are feeling the wear and tear now.
Eloise never wants to leave the camino. She loves all the adoration and can only nap in the stroller…
Addie is a bit more ready to be done. She misses her cat. But she has been a trooper
Darn those tires, but it is truly amazing that they have weathered this walk without them popping or something. But I once pushed a going flat tired stroller only down the street once and it was murder to move the thing until i figured it out. You have done beyond well pushing that thing the distance you have. The rock bridge and sculptures look very interesting and the scenery continues. You are less than 2 inches away from Santiago on my map and I sing the 500 mile song a little way to much these days as i wait for the news that you are there and you must play that song and dance in the square, as we all will be dancing to it here!
We are so mad at how much harder it was!
So close but so far for your tired muscles. Practice the little dance at the end of these two days coming g up. Certainly give Addie some moves. Remember you are never too young to learn how to dance.
Concentrate on what you have accomplished. The end is near
Hugs & kisses
We will definitely all be doing happy dance
Eloise’s smiles must have been getting you through the hardest parts. Look at that bright cheery face! You’re almost there, you’ve got this!
Eloise is loving this.
