After another rough night of little sleep, we were dragging our feet through today’s walk. We only had about 10k to do, but still, we struggled to get motivated throughout the day.
We haven’t minded the crowds from Sarria, but today we felt a little frustrated. People kept stopping us to take our photo, or simply photographed us while we walked, and we felt a little bit like a sideshow on the Camino.
The walk itself was not difficult, but it felt difficult to us. We were counting down the distance by the 100 meters and were grateful when the walk ended.
Our guesthouse in Melide has a nice pool, and after naps, we took the girls swimming before going to dinner. The water was icy cold, but it was a refreshing way to cool off, and it had our spirits lifted.
For dinner, I wanted to go for pulpo in Melide, as this is known as the spot it. I was the only one excited to eat octopus, but both Sandra and Addie tried a piece. I enjoyed the dinner, but I may have been the only one.
We went for palate cleansing ice cream after, and Sandra and Addie enjoyed that much more.
The distance to Santiago is getting smaller. Today, it still feels too far, but we will be there before we know it.
53.5 kilometers to go!
You are braver than i am to jump into an ice cold pool, but it is cooler here so i havent been that desperate yet. That plate full of octopus is quite the site although i have tried it before as you know and it was really good. Not such big chunks though! One step at a time puts you closer by the minute. Keep in mind the mosquitoes are now out here and cant wait for the 4 of you to return home, so maybe dont walk too fast!
Regardless of the ups and downs you are so smart to end the day eating ice cream..
Smart gals.
Hugs & kisses
So glad Addie at least got to try the pulpo, it’ll be a fun photo to show her later 🙂 You all are so close now!
Ahhhh, my mouth watered as I gazed at that plate of pulpo. Perhaps one of the key contributors to my anticipation to walk again next spring. YOU’RE ALMOST THERE! Your accomplishment is already amazing. Walking into the square in Santiago in a few days will just be the icing on the cake. Carry on…one foot in front of the other!
